We have created a list of values, elements, practices, and skills that our children must carry in their life’s backpack in order to face the future. Claudia Díaz, the Montessori British School principal, dedicates part of her life to answering questions such as “why are some successful and others aren’t?” or “what do those who succeed have?” And in order to give these tools to her students, she says:
“These are the elements that we should pack in our children’s backpacks.”
As parents, we want the best for our children. That is why in this institution we work to give them all the necessary equipment to face the future and reach the pinnacle of success, like the true great leaders of the world.
Values
Son principios fundamentales que nos permiten vivir y comportarnos en una comunidad. En el Montessori los integramos de manera transversal en el curriculum.
Multiculturalism
To be competent citizens, our children need to speak not only English, but also other languages; as well as live with various cultures —understanding, appreciating, and respecting their differences. At the Montessori British School, we teach Spanish, English, Mandarin, and French in a multicultural environment.
Love for the environment
Loving and respecting the environment is an essential trait of good citizens. At our school, we have worked in this area and have been awarded national and international prizes.
Leadership
Leadership is essential to be successful in the future, if we understand it as the ability to influence the thoughts, feelings, actions, and emotions of others. At our school, we generate activities and projects to train great leaders.
Creativity
To succeed, you need to identify a problem and solve it creatively and innovatively. At the Montessori British School, we have an array of projects and challenges of varying difficulty.
Technology
To succeed, you not only need to use technology, but also create it. At the Montessori British School, students perform activities that lead them to develop robotics skills.
Integrity
We are comprehensive and good at what we do in all areas, as is demonstrated by the Montessori British School schedule.
Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurs are the masters of their destiny. They can go where they want and find what they need. At the Montessori British School, our children experience it during their Junior Business Administration classes, where, from an early age, they learn skills and concepts to excel in the world of business. They put all this into practice through different business competitions, such as the War of the Sandwiches.
Teamwork
Today, no one knows everything, and to succeed we must be able to work as a team. At the Montessori British School, we have created programs and projects that encourage the participation of all students and celebrate the contribution of different ideas, practices, and procedures.
Personal care
To project one’s image is essential for success. They say that, upon meeting somebody, the first 7 seconds result in a positive or negative impact. At the Montessori British School, by means of a good nutrition and fitness habits, we teach our students to find balance between health and well-being. This allows them to project a healthy image.
The arts
Art is a means of expression to convey emotion; in addition, it is the most powerful resource available to humankind to transform reality. Everything in the world derives from an emotion that inspired someone to create it. For this reason, at the Montessori British School we have a powerful artistic curriculum that incorporates art, music, and dance.
Vision
To succeed, it is important to have clear goals and charted paths to achieve them. At the Montessori British School, we allow our students to set clear goals and seek ways to meet them, both academically and personally.
Logic and math
It is essential that students can visualize the world through numbers and logic, incorporating them into real processes. At the Montessori British School, our students have been widely recognized.
